DIS displays oil temperature, what is optimal before I can drive spiritedly?

Cycling through the driver info display, I found that oil temperature is one option. Not exactly an oil temp guage, but better than nothing. (Now if it would also give me oil levels as well so I know when to top up...wishful thinking).

What should be the minimum optimal oil temperature before I can drive spiritedly? It may be a moot point, assuming the engine does get to operating temps pretty quickly, but I'm thinking during the colder winter months.

The A3 oil thermostat ( shunting oil to the cooler) opens at about 190 -200 F...

I'm sure that this could be debated, but I like to use 150 F as a benchmark for warmup - though I won't run the car flat out (autocross, track) until it's fully warm.

Good thing I never need to worry about anything like that.

by the time I get the car out of the parking lot, out of london (many many traffic lights and speed cameras)and on to the motorways/b-roads, it should usually be warm enough anyways.

I've heard that 10 miles of driving equals a fully warmed up car...give or take depending on temp...

I wouldn't redline a car before I drove about 10 miles. BUT..that doesn't mean you can't get it up to the powerband after 3-4 miles running around 4-5K rpm.
