door lock actuator

hi all, my Audi A3 does not lock the right rear door anymore when using the central locking system. According to the dealer, the "door lock actuator" needs to be replaced....a 750 bucks repair for a door that does not lock?!

I am trying to find this part online but have no luck finding it. Only thing I can find are universal door lock actuators, but have no idea whether this will fit.

Any suggestions? Your help is much appreciated.

Take it to an independent shop that works on Audis. They can probably get the part and install it for less than the dealer.

750 bux? insane....i have the same issue on my driver's side. Locks sometimes, but not others. I will eventually get it fixed, but definitely not at the dealers (depending on what my extended warranty covers).

That should work for any of your doors except the driver's door. I believe it requires a different actuator because of the lock in the door handle.

You should be able to go to your dealer's parts dept. and get them to look up the exact part number on their system. If they won't do it then you can give one of the web parts suppliers (such as ECS Tuning) a call and they should be able to find the right part for your application.

It sounds like they are talking about the latch assembly which is a rather expensive item if you are paying list which is $384.60 and then a few of hours of labor gets you close to the $750.00 quoted. Our price is $286.14 and the part number is 4F0-839-016-B and is listed as "door lock with door contact switch". Your most economical option would be to order the latch and have a quality independent shop install it for you.
