Default Trip computer function on the Nav+ ????

I have been looking for my A3 for a few weeks now and have not been able to find EXACTLY what I want. Finally a sales guy found me one with everything I want, except for the convinience package. I will be bummed about not having the auto dimming mirror, but I can deal with that. I really need the trip computer... SO Since I am getting the Nav+, will it have a trip computer function built into it? I am assuming that it does, but want to make sure.

Why don't you just order one? I had the trip in my allroads-never used it.

Yes it does. The NAV+ does have the trip computer.

I probably have the specs you're considering. I have virtually all options except the convenience package like you said. I also missed having the auto dimming rearview mirror but have become used to not having it. If I had a choice, I'd get it but if you see a car you really like and it's the only thing missing you may want to jump on it.

Default Order takes 3-4 months...

acording to the dealers out here. I can get this other one this week, or next if they hurry up and bring it over from the Port Of Los Angeles.

Default You mean MPG, speed alarms, distance to empty? Where in NAV?

Are you talking about the computer that is run off the wiper stalk? I've not seen anything on the Nav+ unit -- what menu? Does it work without route guidance on? Thanks.

Default Yes, with NAV+ that's how it works...

The trip computer functions as normal using the wiper stalk and displayed in the instrument panel, not the nav screen. In terms of route guidance, that's unrelated to the trip computer if we're talking about the same thing here.

Default It really does have trip computer functionality??

Man, this is one of the most important functions for me because I do a lot of medium hauls. If the Nav+ does have trip computer function that knocks another $675 off my config.

Dude, please tell me that the above is correct. I'll be bummed if I'm without a trip computer function and I'm re-ordering mine tomorrow, so gotta get it right this time!

Default I'm absolutely positive.

The trip computer functionality works in the instrument cluster display, not the NAV screen just to confirm your understanding. You can toggle between the different functions with the wiper stock such as average mpg(2 modes), avg speed, miles remaining on current tank of gas, miles elapsed, etc.

Trust me, I use it everyday and have been monitoring my fuel efficiency. To date with about 1,800 miles or so I'm averaging a grand total of 24.5 mpg. You should know that by bypassing the convenience package that provides the trip computer, you will not get the auto dimming mirror or Homelink unless you're getting the Premium package if I'm not mistaken.

Hope this helps your decision and good luck!

Default Dude, you rock!

Don't care about the homelink or auto-dimming mirror function. Man, just saved an extra $675! To think that I was going to spend the extra dough to get something... twice.

OK, final config:

DSG (you guys convinced me)
Black/black
Sport
Nav+

And this time it IS final. :-)

Default Haha..they would've maybe mentioned it to you but

then again..maybe they wouldn't since the mirrors and Homelink deal. Glad I could be of service. Btw, NAV+ rocks!
