APR Stage1 ECU
Thinking about doing the APR PLUS upgrade to the ECU. Any insight if it’s worth it and or if anyone has had any issues with it?
if I do I would be getting their warranty as well as I’m sure I will lose the factory power train warranty. Any insight on this is appreciated as well.

Friend added it to his S3, but the transmission couldn't shift fast enough and it would bang agains the redline under hard acceleration. The only resolution was to do the APR tune for the transmission as well, which solved the issue but cost more money.
I have my TT with APR Stage 1.....it's a huge bang for your buck with a huge, notable change in the car's performance with zero segregation on fuel economy. I'd highly recommend APR tunes to anyone! 40,000+ miles and zero issues.

What year was his S3, mine is 2018. Not sure if that matters. This is the first issue i have heard with the APR ECU upgrade. Also is there a difference between the APR plus and APR stage1? They both appear to have the sam power output.

His was a 2016. It's not really an "issue".....it's just the engine ECU no longer has the program parameters the DCT was designed to follow. It' only happens under full-throttle acceleration, but it's like the engine RPMs climb faster than the transmission program expects, leading to shift times that are too slow. New DTC programing from APR "synced" the two and resolved the issue. You should ask APR....it was a VERY common complaint for people that just did ECU upgrades when the S3 first came out. Maybe they have made changes that address this shifting issue. It didn't do it 100% of the time, just sometimes in first or second gear it would hit the rev limiter and hang and not up-shift. My TT actually experienced this a couple of times randomly and doesn't have the DTC tune, but it wasn't an issue that concerned me enough to spend more money.
