Default 2009 A3 transmission "lurch"

This subject has been discussed at length here, but I may have a slight variation.

I recently purchased an A3 wagon with about 77K miles on it. It's the 2.0T non-Quattro. Great car and fun to drive, but it has an annoying issue. When the car is warm (and only when warm) the tranny seems to lurch forward as I come to a stop, presumably because it is shifting into first. When I accelerate again from a stop, the engagement is very harsh, unlike when first driving it (when cool).

Others have had this issue, but almost to a person, it either 1) only happens when cold, or 2) happens when the car is new and will improve as the tranny "learns" the owner's driving habits. Most respondents suggest having the software updated or re-flashed to correct this. Does this sound like a solution to my issue? I suppose the first thing to check would be fluid level. The scant service records do not seem to mention the issue.

Thanks in advance.
