Coolant Warning Light
Hi all. I have a 2006 A3 2.0. Several times in the past month, when starting the car, the coolant warning light and chime will come on. This never happened before this, and when checking the coolant level it is just above minimum, on a cold engine. The warning light goes out after less than a minute. This has only happened when first starting in the morning, and only when it is extremely cold, such as minus 14 to minus 18 celcius. Does this sound like a concern? I do ahve a maintinence appointment coming up soon so I will definately mention it.

have your dealer top up the coolant level to max
if the warnings continue, then your coolant level sensor is defective, in which case it will be replaced under warranty (considering you still qualify for warranty)

had the same thing
brought it to the dealer the 1st time, they added coolant said it might have been a bubble (do they think I'm an idiot)
brought it to the dealer 2nd time and I was told it was a bad cooling system O-ring under the manifold, which they replaced and it's been fine since.

bubbles
Just out of curiosity, is your dealer one that has been in the Audi biz for a long time?
I ask because back in the bad old days, the Audi 100LS was famous for overheating due to air trapped in the system near the coolant temp sensor. We got in the habit of jacking up the front end and not the back while refilling or topping up the tank, and running the engine that way with the cap off and/or the heater core bleeder open to "burp" the cooling system.

Cold
I've had the same problem this season. When the temperature goes under -1°C when coolant warning light flashes and chimes for about a min or 2 if the car has been off for quite a bit (roughly 8-10hrs). I'm pretty sure it's because of the cold temperatures and prob warning you not to drive just yet until the coolant is smoothly running. I own a 6spd Audi A3 and it has 253k Km on it lool. She just loves to keep spooling. Hasn't treated me bad since ownership
