I have a 2011 A3 and my mechanic is telling me that one of the fuel lines needs to be replaced (car is seriously leaking gas). Although I have not had any reason to previously question him, he is telling me that he is going to have to drop the tank to replace the line, so this is turning into a much more expensive repair than I imagined because of the labor.

Does anyone know if dropping the fuel tank is really necessary to change the line? Thanks in advance.
