Default has anyone here done the HPA DSG upgrade flash?

specifically on the 3.2.

how long have you had it?
what stage did you choose?

Default A buddy has, on his R32. I'll try to point him this way.

He's generally very happy.

Default Re: has anyone here done the HPA DSG upgrade flash?

Boki,

I got the stage 2 flash in January on my A3 at the Los Angeles stop on Marcel's tour. I'm actually still learning on the launch control; I went down to close up the portlights on my small boat yesterday, and I was able to use the service road in front of the marina to do a moderate launch on the way out. I'll have to go to the marina more often to get more practice!

The disabled kickdown is what I was really after. I can choose the gear and hit the pedal without thinking about the tranny downshifting on its own.

In manual mode, from a standing start, I had to focus on getting my shifting tight: I was running right up into the wall of the redline faster than I was expecting! It comes up fast in 1st and 2nd gear.

Other than the DSG stage 2 and the Gen 2 Haldex, the car is stock. I'm deciding on the ecu tune next, which will no doubt lead to the intake and exhaust. . .

Default i know they are preparing to do a second "tour", phoenix, & maybe denver, houston, l.a., ..

the third week of february.
where they go besides phoenix(confirmed), depends on interest and commitment in the other three cities.

i've read a lot of reviews from the R32 cats, and everyone is extremely pleased with how it transforms the personality of the DSG to how it should have been from the factory.
primarily, making it a true manual when you want it to be, but also for the lack of hesitation on launch.

i was wondering if anyone here in the A3 forum tracks their car, or just wants a more responsive gearbox for the street, and had experienced the difference on an A3, or was planning on getting in on this second tour.

Default good to hear your review, ...

i was hoping to hear some of the results from A3 drivers. hopefully many will speak up, and contact HPA to take advantage of this second go-round.
they're the only folks offering this upgrade, and having them come to you, and getting instant satisfaction, is so much better than having to get your car to vancouver, or pulling the DSG and crating it there.

i know many are not looking for quite as much of a sporty, responsive feel out of their audi, but for as many, they chose the A3 for that very reason.
i think the A3 has so much potential, as the smaller, friskier audi.

Interesting.. Thought it couldn't be flashed without being disassembled.

One odd item on their site says that they have to read out data from the ECU, send it back to HQ, to generate a file specific to the car.
but then, they say that you can send the mechatronic unit to them to flash instead, but in this case, they don't have access to the ECU.
Wondering why they need to read the ECU in one case, and not the other..

Default i believe they are talking about the DSG ECU, not the engine ECU

ECU = electronic control unit

not engine control unit. your car has many ECU's

Default ECU reflash + DSG reflash = my perfect A3

I can do without LC....increased rev. limit is minor win. "D" mode, meh, leave that alone as it provides the best mpg.

More control in manual is the win.

Default Yes. This is the way the DSG should have been right out of the box.

Start with this link. It should answer almost all your questions. It's a pretty in depth thread.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4158902</a
