Looking to Buy A3 - what to avoid?
Hi - I'm looking at 2006 - 2009 A3 2.0T with Automatic. Is there a year or option that is problematic or should be avoided?
I've owned an A4 before and was paranoid about oil sludge - although that never became a problem. The transmission did become a problem! I currently have a Passat V6 where I did the timing belt, cam chain tensioner gaskets, etc. myself. I'm thinking the 2.0T will be refreshingly simpler than the V6.
Thanks.

I just bought an A3 2.0t with a 6MT and it is smooth as butter...
damn thing has 185K and leaking oil but pretty sure it came out of the factory that way. Haha...
The usual suspects for me...coil packs...vacuum leaks. My first German and I'm learning the ropes. Good luck!

Thanks - I got a 2009 A3 2.0TFSI with DSG transmission and 94K. Pleasantly surprised to find out it has a timing chain - no T-belt change needed.
