Stalling / ABS/ESP Light comes on

Stalling / ABS/ESP Light comes on
My 02 A3 1.6 keeps stalling, usually when I'm coming up to / at traffic lights. When I turn the ignition back on the ABS/ESP light comes on on the dash and it feels like I've lost most of the power. Usually turning it off and on again sorts it out.
Started off being every now and again but seems to be happening every day now.
Have also noticed that the revs are very erratic when it idles.
Also when I start up in the morning the revs are fine but as soon as I press the accelerator they start to fluctuate and I need to keep the pedal pressed down to get anywhere! This usually sorts itself out as I start driving.
Any advice welcome, would like to know how serious this is!

Please let me know if you have gotten help on this or resolved the issue. I'm having VERY similar issues with my 2002 A4 1.8T - and the auto shop can't seem to figure it out either, they tell me all my codes are reading ok but yet my car keeps stalling out at traffic lights when the ESP light comes on.
