Default 2009 A5 3.2L Check engine light

Hi there,

I recently got check engine light and I got got it scanned (not dealer) and I found its P0456? Emission Leak, Gas Cap?

Can anyone help me with some common fix without taking my car to a shop. I found some that it could be faulty gas tank cap?

Thanks!

Take it to a highly rated local mechanic. Learned my lesson the hard way. Once my light came in and as a n00b I was worried that something was wrong with the engine and so I must get it fixed at a dealership . Got slapped with a $400 bill. Out of which about $50 was parts and $350 was 'audi labor'. My local mechanic later told me he could have had it done for $100.

I'd make sure to secure the gas cap. Use an Actron OBDII code reader to erase the code. If the code reappears, you have a leak somewhere. If it does not reappear, it was likely an improperly secured gas cap.

I was able to get OEM gas cap from the dealer and the light is gone!
