A5 voice recognition
Good news...finally got my car. Loving it, it is everything that people have been saying it is. Big question...I can't get the voice recognition to work. When I press the voice button on the steering wheel I get "button not activated". Anything special I should be doing? Looked in manual and found no help.

2009 models will have the voice activation. I have heard of some people activating the voice recognition for the PHONE only through the VAG, and some dealers are doing this at no charge.

there I am as lost as you are.. its a computer program that links to your cars computer and you can change things. supposedly if you know what you are doing, you can do it yourself, but i have NO idea how. I have read several people saying that dealers will do it for them. I would ask your dealer. I think this only allows voice control for phone commands. I do not think the 2008 has the actual hardware (module) for nav and radio control with voice.

You can activate the button for phone functions only...
and it is pretty easy if you have access to the VAG COM cable and follow these steps in this post:<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a5/msgs/15745.phtml">using VAG COM to activate voice dialing</a></li></ul>
