Thanks for the info guys, but none of that answers my original question. Is the dealer supposed to exchange the iPod cable for a cable of my choice at no charge? If so, is that stated anywhere official so I can show it to my dealer?

Sure I could just buy a different cable, but why pay an extra $65 if I don't need to when I'm never going to use the iPod cable?

Yes, tell him 1000songs says he is obligated under NJ law to replace the cable. And if you never use the horn get your money back on that, too.

Come on now, no reason to get snotty. I've seen comments from people whose dealer exchanged the cable. I was just wondering if that's official policy or not. Your thread was helpful for when I get the right cable, but it didn't answer my original question.

non ipod cable

I tried getting a dealer to swap, but no deal. Something about inventory parts, etc.
Or maybe they were just trying to get me to pony $60 for the cable. I also would like to know if there is an official "swap" requirement or just a courtesy call...
It might seem petty after paying so much for a car, but it is a principle that I don't want Audi/dealers to feel people will accept paying $60 for a cable that should cost $10.
