I am having the exact same issue, had the controll arms replaced and I still notice a vibration around 65. I thought I was the only one. I had a friend drive it and she noticed it too. So do you think I need to have the bushings replaced too? This is such a pain

Just like mossback, you got a lemon, chupiechow.

Or, your dealer is incompetent and installed the control arms improperly. This is isolated (less than 10% of North American owners of Audis on the B8 platform and mostly those here on AudiWorld) but it has happened to a few people (all of whom are North American Audi owners, mostly those on AudiWorld). If mossback did NOT get a lemon, then perhaps his dealer is also incompetent and also improperly installed the control arms.

Or, perhaps you need other repairs in addition to the control arms (new tires that are not those horrific Pirellis, road force balances or whatever these are called, new bushings and so on. If mossback did NOT get a lemon, then perhaps he needs these repairs as well (which he clearly did not get if the control arm replacements alone did not work). This is the case for about 25% of North American Audi owners.

BTW, it is very possible that mossback did NOT get a lemon.

Perhaps you should check out the reply message that I posted on 12-30-2009 at 1:45PM so that you know the truth about Audi's all around dependability, durability, quality, reliability, satisfaction and service and not what the unfortunate few North American Audi owners (outside of those who own the Audi models and model years that really are bad, which you will clearly see in my reply message posted at 1:45PM on 12-30-2009, provided that you read carefully and thoroughly, of course ) on the Audi forums (primarily the North American Audi owners here on AudiWorld) experience (which probably includes yourself).

Just wanted to let you guys know that us A4 owners have been dealing with this issue for a while.

For the most part, the control arm replacements have done the trick for us. Not sure if anything would be different for the A5.

My vibration went away after the dealer replaced the control arms, road-force balanced the wheels, and replaced one of the wheels.

Default Problem solved...

Picked up my s5 cab from the Niello Audi today. Repairs took approx 4 work days (I did receive a loaner vehicle). Required replacement of 2 tires, road force balancing and two front control arm replacement. And the results: it seems to have worked!

I drove the car at highway speeds (and then some) for apprx 40+ miles and the car is very stable. No appreciable rumble or vibration.

I just want to put in a good word for the people at Niello Audi service (John the service advisor and Heath the service technician). They were very diligent in solving the problem and did not try to take shortcuts. I received a call midway through the repairs giving me an update and they road tested the car several times before they were prepared to return it. All in all a very painless experience (contrary to some of the other nightmares I have read about on this forum).

Same here, my dealer was great. Barrier Audi in Bellevue for those in the Seattle area did a wonderful job.

It pains me to see to see so much time wasted for both the customer and the service techs. It is rediculous that attempts are made first to balance the tires, then change tires, then road force balance, then replace rims, etc.
99.9% of the successful fixes are because the control arms were replaced. I cannot understand why Audi does not look at these overwhelming statistics and just ship control arms to the service departments to address the vibration issues which will be coming up for some time until they are all flushed out.
I allowed a couple of balance attempts first, but would not stand for any furthe time being wasted with the other nonsensical approaches.
My Service Tech & Manager were great and immediately requested Audi's "permission" to order the control arms. They were delivered within days and installed in 1.
The car was delivered personally to my house by the Service Manager completely fixed.
I hope those of you that have yet to go through this persist in convincing your Service Mgr to skip steps A thru F and get right to the answer. Replace the control arms.
Peace.

My dealership knew the solution was to replace the control arms, but there was a three-week backlog on the parts. So the day the problem was confirmed, they road-force balanced the wheels/swapped tires and so on. Then I got to take the car home, and went back a few weeks later for the arms to be installed.

AoA also recognized that some of the tires installed select cars were not up to standard, so dealerships are asked to double check. That's why dealerships sometimes have to perform "A-F".

Has anyone here tried changing out the tires that came with the car with Michelins?

I'd be curious to know as well. My SA advised that the warranty process only allows them to fit the car with replacement tires the same as whatever came from the factory spec. So even though other brand tires were used as OEM they are not the spec of the car
