Default Trunk Spoiler help

Hi

Im brand new to Audi and car modifications as well. I just got a new 2019 Audi S5 Coupe and would like some suggestions on a trunk spoiler/lip. I prefer carbon fiber and don’t want to do any drilling into the trunk or anything like that. On ECS they had some that were 14” high - I feel like that’s a too much? Open to suggestions and thought and appreciate any help thank you!

Hmmmm. There's no way the ECS spoiler is 14" high as they design pretty classy stuff. Maybe the shipping box is what has that dimension.

Me and most others with aftermarket spoilers got them from China on AliExpress. Shipping will be severely delayed though due to Covid.

So here is an example of one - ECS only has 4 compatible with Audi S5 Coupe

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-nrg-part...b-a590nrg~ngg/

and the dimensions say 14” height. I was surprised too.

would this require any drilling into my trunk?

also could you send me some examples of these after market ones that are compatible with my vehicle. Thank you so much for the help, I really appreciate it

Thank you so much for the link! I like the lip a lot. If the other spoiler wasn’t so high in height I’d deff consider it. Would to know if those types of spoilers from ECS would require drilling?

No there's no drilling required. It uses double sided tape and will look like mine below.

Absolutely. If you look at the ECS photos, you can see each mounting plate has 4 holes that would require drilling. That thing is so large, there’s no way it would mount with anything less than screws / bolts.

IMHO — way TOO large for the S5. That spoiler belongs in the “rice rocket” category, again, just my opinion.

John I completely agree, I love the shapes and design and carbon fiber, but which it was 6-7 inches instead of 14-15 inches. And yes the drilling is a huge deterrent for me, I don’t think I’m prepared to do that just yet. I am going to try the tapeable lip.

question about the carbon lip option - would the tape damage the car paint?

I got mine off eBay and it’s stick on. It’s a “m4 style” carbon fiber (which I doubt is real but looks nice never the less) for like $150 shipped. Luckyshop00 or something like that was the seller
