S5 in drive thru car wash
Anybody use automatic car wash here for their S5? Is the low ground clearance an issue? I usually hand wash my car but it is too cold here and I want to wash all the salt off the under carriage of the car.

A stock S5 should have no problems with ground clearance in a regular car wash. I have used a conveyor belt car wash for the S5 a few times. Just make sure to turn off rain sensing wipers and Presense.

Actually they do if you have a good ceramic coating on your paint. I have used one in my area and it comes out really clean — just a good wipe down / dry with a couple of microfiber towels and it looks like new!

My touch less wash didn’t work well at all last weekend, but I had a dirt film from a minor rain/wet roads. I was saddened by the wash and ceramic performance. It’s all clean and shiny now though, at least until it rains harder on Monday.

I’m thinking it depends on the particular Touchless Car Wash? The one I went through even has the jets to power blast the under carriage. I’ve found that if I dry the car with 3 or 4 Microfiber Towels the results are much better.
As always — YMMV.

Once I find a decent car wash, I use that instead of washing my own car. Yes, it creates some level of swirl marks, which is why I buy colors that do not show swirls prominently, but a consistent washing and waxing regime keeps the finishing looking good for years. There have also been plenty of times non-commercial car washing was prohibited in my area because of water restrictions.
