Default 2002 AR RIP?

I had some mixed feeling about starting the car after two weeks sitting in cold weather, with today about -12C. Anyway, starts ok, warmed up for a while and I drive off. I see white cloud behind me, think it is snow but then I start smelling burnt oil. Go back, park the car, both tailpipes spew white smoke and there is lots of oil inside he pipes. What is the most likely scenario here? Is it oil rings or is there something else which can throw oil like this? I don't hold much hope for the car, it has 320,000 km, but before disposing of it one way or the other, I would like to find out.
Thanks,
Stan

Frozen PVC system. Ice forms there, plugged crankcase ventilation, pressurizes the crankcase, and oil cloud results. Put it in a heated garage, till it thaws out, then drive the crap out of it to boil off moisture.
The is a current thread on the allroad part of Quattroworld on this exact problem from yesterday.

Thanks for your reply. The heat from the engine probably opened up the blockage because when I went for a drive again, there was only a bit of smoke which quickly dissapeared. I wonder where the restriction could be as the spider hose was pretty clean when I inspected it while doing the valve covers?

Condensation of water vapor from the combustion process forms a pool of water which freezes, expanding and forming a plug in one of the PVC lines. Driving the car hard after warmed up boils off the moisture in the PVC system and engine oil. You can get quite a lot of water condensing if you make lots of short trips and the water doesn't get boiled off.

I blew an oil cooler seal and then a crankcase seal on my '99 A6 (2.8L engine) last week because of this.
