Default Audi 2001 Allroad acceleration issues

Hi all, I was driving my allroad last night and tried accelerating harder so put more pressure on the peddle but the peddle was really stiff. I can only accelerate with my foot as hard as I can on the peddle to.a.maximum of 3000rpm. my tiptonic works fine and each gear will go beyond 3000rpm. I do have lights that come up in the dash which are normal and have been happening for a while which are the suspension light like the little car one, the abs and the one with the exclamation mark with the triangle and circle around it. which I thought was to do with my airbags which are having an issue but I noticed these lights come on straight away and the airbags were working at this point. anyone know what it could be? ask any questions and I will reply. please help!

You need to rebuild your ABS module. Check out Module Master. BBA also does it.

You have a stiff accelerator pedal? Looked under the pedal? May need a new switch, since it is drive-by-wire.

Lastly, get your car scanned for codes since it will show you a lot of what's wrong with the car. Either Audi dealer or a shop that works on Audis.

I did replace the brake light switch thing which turned out it did nothing and the lights came back on. I've read forums on those lights coming on and they said to replace that switch which turns out it did nothing.

no I haven't looked under the peddle. it was night time and to be honest I don't know what I'd be looking for? also is it bad if I drive the car? apparently it's in limp mode or something.

a friend suggested I go to Audi or vw and get a diagnostic check on the computer for what codes will come up but how much am I looking at for someone to do that? I don't want to be ripped off as I'm a girl and they tend to be sexist... is there anywhere in the hills district in Sydney that anyone would recommend?

thanks for your reply!

I would suggest giving dealer a call in advance to get a quote for scanning the car. In Canada/US it is usually $80-$100. Slightly less than one hour of labour's worth of charge.

Find a local independent shop that repairs VW/Audi and call them to get a quote.

Brake light switch is separate from the accelerator pedal switch/sensor. If your accelerator is very stiff, there is something interfering with its movement.

If your car is in limp mode, it will be slow, that's why it is a good idea to obtain all codes.

ok so last night the peddle was normal again... only strange this was that when I accelerated about 1 minute after it started the exclamation mark with the triangle and circle around it flashed at me three tomes really quick. so if the peddle is back to normal what could have it been? and to take it to Audi they want to charge 187 per hour for the diagnostics thing and they say it may take over an hour.

You don't need a diagnostic, you just need to scan the car for codes and would like to see a code printout.

If you have a Windows laptop, buy a USB-OBDII interface cable on eBay for $10-$15, then download the shareware (free) version of VCDS, and hook it all up. You'll be able to scan the car for codes yourself without any dealer or shop's involvement.

I have done that and it came up with errors but the peddle issue didn't. Well actually a lot of errors came up. If I replace the airbag suspension maybe some of the errors will go. I just Thought if Audi did it they would come up with error codes but I guess the same will come up that I got. if only I knew someone that had the Audi computer software I'd pay to borrow it and see what happens.

Do you have those fault codes? Post them here.

If not, get vag-com/VCDS. It is the same stuff the dealer uses. You will access every module.

The way to diagnose it is to plug it in, scan for codes, save the codes, clear them and see what codes come up again.

Post the codes here (and their meaning/description), and we will try and help you in the right direction.

If you have "ESP", try turning it off during your next road test.

2 of those codes are directly tied to ESP functions which will trigger warning lights and even intervene with the electronic throttle and trigger single brake ABS function while driving.

1st, the brake light switch needs to be replaced (cheap and easy), codes 16955 & 00526...it's an integral and necessary part of ESP sensor readings.

And you have a problem with the steering angle sensor (code 00778)...also an integral part of ESP, that if failed or out of adjustment will also trigger ESP functions (throttle and ABS).
