Audi 2001 Allroad acceleration issues
You have a stiff accelerator pedal? Looked under the pedal? May need a new switch, since it is drive-by-wire.
Lastly, get your car scanned for codes since it will show you a lot of what's wrong with the car. Either Audi dealer or a shop that works on Audis.
no I haven't looked under the peddle. it was night time and to be honest I don't know what I'd be looking for? also is it bad if I drive the car? apparently it's in limp mode or something.
a friend suggested I go to Audi or vw and get a diagnostic check on the computer for what codes will come up but how much am I looking at for someone to do that? I don't want to be ripped off as I'm a girl and they tend to be sexist... is there anywhere in the hills district in Sydney that anyone would recommend?
thanks for your reply!

Find a local independent shop that repairs VW/Audi and call them to get a quote.
Brake light switch is separate from the accelerator pedal switch/sensor. If your accelerator is very stiff, there is something interfering with its movement.
If your car is in limp mode, it will be slow, that's why it is a good idea to obtain all codes.
If you have a Windows laptop, buy a USB-OBDII interface cable on eBay for $10-$15, then download the shareware (free) version of VCDS, and hook it all up. You'll be able to scan the car for codes yourself without any dealer or shop's involvement.

If not, get vag-com/VCDS. It is the same stuff the dealer uses. You will access every module.
The way to diagnose it is to plug it in, scan for codes, save the codes, clear them and see what codes come up again.
Post the codes here (and their meaning/description), and we will try and help you in the right direction.

2 of those codes are directly tied to ESP functions which will trigger warning lights and even intervene with the electronic throttle and trigger single brake ABS function while driving.
1st, the brake light switch needs to be replaced (cheap and easy), codes 16955 & 00526...it's an integral and necessary part of ESP sensor readings.
And you have a problem with the steering angle sensor (code 00778)...also an integral part of ESP, that if failed or out of adjustment will also trigger ESP functions (throttle and ABS).
