Back-up Sensor
Can anyone tell me if this feature can be switched...I have a Thule bike rack that I use from time to time but everytime I go into reverse I have to listen to that irritating beeping. It would be nice to disengage when I have the rack on. Our Expedition does the same thing with the rack but we are able to switch it off via the menu on the dash onboard computer. No biggie but if it is a fairly simple diy than I would consider doing it. If not than perhaps just pulling a fuse on occasion would be a solution?

If your car is 02 or newer it is pre-wired for a trailer hitch. In the hitch wiring is a mechanism to disable the Parktronic when the trailer wiring is plugged into the car. Not sure how much effort you want to put in but if looked at the trailer wiring schematics you could probably see how to jump the wires to fool the car into thinking there is a trailer plugged in.

It's a start...thanks much for the idea. Do you or anyone have access to the schematic and possibly post a file/pic? I am not much of an electronics expert so can anyone offer some direction on how to do this? I can handle some splicing, routing of wires, etc like with audio installs. I was able to install upgrade of entire sound system...HU, component speakers, amp and sub. Not sure about jumping?
I don't really anticipate towing with this vehicle so some sort of jump could work...I really only put a Curtis hitch on to accommodate the rack.

what if you don't have the hitch? is the car still pre-wired for it? I would love to know how to disable it as well, i just got a 2005 with no hitch but the annoying sensors - scared me the first time I backed up

Finally got an answer to this one. In the left rear compartment (where the CD changer is mounted) there is a small computer with two wiring harnesses attached. This is the parktronic computer. Simply pull the two harnesses out of the computer and no more parktronic. Re-attach to turn back on.
