Bad engine
just bought an allraod. my firt audi, it's awesome. except i just had it checked out and it is leaking oil. couldn't tell because it was all coming out on the "skid plate/engine cover". Not a mechanic and am looking for advice on what to do.
also, car has an annoying rattle that is coming from somewhere near the middle of the engine. mechanic "thinks it is the transmission". anyone had anything like this?

Re: Sounds to me like what I had, a bad wastegate on one of turbos.
did it have any other affect other than the rattle? mine doesn't seem to have any. i have got it narrowed down to the middle lower part of the engine. had a mechanic suggest it was the transmission. not sure.

fortunately I'm still in factory warranty and then CPO starts next month. They also replaced two front air springs, did 50K service, changed brake fluid, and did front end alignment...my cost was $99 for the alignment. WHEW!

I haven't received a quote for the rattle or oil leak. The mechanic is telling me that I have to take it somewhere else as he doesn't have the tools. Now he tells me, after I had it there for three days.
But, I would be very interested in what it cost you, or anyone for that matter, to get the job done.
