Default Bought it

After some monkeying around with the dealer, we ended up getting the 2004 allroad 4.2 in Atlas Grey on Saturday. I haven't had a chance to decipher the codes vs. option list, but it has everything that I've seen so far of the major stuff. I'm happy it came with the 17" wheels, as I have far more tire options. All that power is taking some getting used to in that type of vehicle. I'm used to 300+ hp from my 2000 996, but this is an entirely different feeling. The handling is superb for such a big vehicle.

The car was originally sold by this dealer, and had been with a previous owner as well. I have the dealer recs, and there have been no issues with the car. I ended up getting the car for $21900, with a new set of shoes and a wheel/FE align. I know that this one had been on the lot for a while, since no one wanted the car w/58K mi. Having owned a slew of higher-mileage Porsches and Land Rovers, I am not afraid of mileage (allows for affordability- I let the suckers compete for all the garage queens ;-). Still, having checked kbb/NADA, it seems that there are a number of AR's on the market well below book. Any reason why?

I wanted to make a quick post to thank everybody for their input, which helped a lot. I'll definitely try to contribute to the forum as much as I can. As I was reading another thread, I wasn't aware that there is a third seat avail. My wife will be happy to hear that. Is there any good aftermarket for something like that?

Thanks Again!

Default Welcome to the 4.2 fold

We miss out on all the Stage 3 fun, but 4.2s rock out of the box.

Default My theory on low resale value

Folks who could buy an allroad are concerned about an expensive to repair car without a warranty. If you know the car, can do your own work or buy a extended warranty - I agree with you that it a good value for a fine car. Gas mileage isn't great and premium fuel is expensive.

Welcome to a great forum. H sports anti sway bars improve the handling and is the best bang for the buck mod. Most of us are 2.7T models but if mine had to be replaced, I'd hunt for a 4.2.
