Default Broken sunvisor - is there a fix?

After simply flipping down my driver side sunvisor, it broke/popped out of the socket:

Once I took it off the headliner, I noticed that the little/tiny collar that holds the entire arm/mechanism in place has separated thus allowing the arm to slip out. Why is that collar so small? and so weak?

Is there a fix for this? I called the dealer, and for a new sunvisor with the homelink it is close to $500 and $150 for one without - WTF?? So that is not an option. Not sure if I can glue the collar back on as there is no surface for it.

Any suggestions?

You could try one of the breakers, like SHOKAN.

I can't see your pictures for some reason....but sounds like what I just fixed on mine this weekend.

I took a 1/2" piece of hard plastic tubing, from a thin ball point pen cover in my case, sliced it lengthwise, and slipped it over the visor arm that lost the crumbling plastic that pops into the hinge. Now the visor 'clips' in as it should and doesn't wobbly around while driving.

Its been discussed before at length I think previously, do a search either here or in the A6 section for other fix-it-yerself ideas.

For me the actual mechanism broke that is attached to the headliner, not the small clip on the right hand side where it is attached to the clip. I have seen write-ups on that, but not for this issue.

There's quite a few of them on EBAY so I'd go there first. Stealership is a rip off on most stuff

Go here. You can find your visor part number about 1/3 of the way down the page.

Would this be it for a "silver/light gray" with the homelink?
4B0-857-551 D-6S9

and one without the homelink?
4B0-857-551 N-6S9

Just want to make sure I am reading it right.

Well, first let me say that I looked it up for an '02 which I have. Depending on year, yours may be different. Also, There are 3 columns to the right of the description which have codes which may or may not correspond to the trim codes on your vehicle.
The price @ 2581 rubles ($91.10) is certainly right.
Good Luck.

Checked with the dealer, the one I would need is 4B0-857-551Q-6S9. But where do I get it for $91?
