Default Compressing Rear allroad Brake Pistons

I have the calipers off - rotors turned - new ceramic pads and the tool to turn the piston. I have turned and turned (even using a power drill adapter) and the piston does not seem to compress.

Do I need to release some fluid pressure or something? Assistance greatly appreciated....

You need to push in while turning clockwise. In the bench I used to use a big C-clamp to apply pressure. If you have the proper tool, it applies the pressure. Helps to open the bleeder screw. Pix is of the type of piston rewind tool I use now.

MINI Coopers work the same way, and I have the same Harbor Freight tool as posted above ($20 on sale and worth every penny) and while it's a bit fiddly to use, it does the job perfectly.

Go get one....

You can borrow them from certain parts chains

Can't you just press the piston straight in using a c-clamp and block of wood?

From reading this, I get the impression the piston has a seal that twists like a jiffy pop popcorn as it expands.

Pardon my ignorance, just that I've never seen a piston that didn't push straight into the caliper.

The piston (31) rides on a threaded rod (15). It needs to be turned while being pressed.

Part no 15 is a screw that the piston rides on, it controls the em brake. Each time you pull the e-brake, if there's enough wear in the pad this screw ratchets out a bit. When you put new pads in you have to thread the piston back down this screw to it's starting place.

Got it done. Had one piston sticking - took a C clamp to it and when the clamp applied pressure, the piston turned.

Had to buy a piece of crap multi tool that goes on the end of a socket wrench as all the parts stores brake piston kits were out.

Will hit Harbor Freight when I get back to Vegas. Thanks for all the advice.

is the piston screw threaded the normal way? Righty tighty?
So that you push the piston in while turning clockwise? For both rear calipers?
