Coolant Temp Sensor CEL

Default Coolant Temp Sensor CEL

VAG reads the CEL as this:

1 Fault Found:
16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too High
P0118 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0000 0000


So I changed the coolant temp sensor under the flex intake pipe. The original one was green and the new one was green as well. Still got a CEL and same fault code. Any ideas? Maybe the new temp sensor is bad as well?

Default Maybe wrong one, how about the one in the lower hose. What does your temp gauge say?

Audi has had shi*&%ads of problems with temp sensors, I have had a couple be bad right off the shelf. Can't remember if the latest one is green or blue. It's been updated so many times.

Was there any pink coolant in the connector of the old sensor ? They can leak into the connector and then push the coolant up the wire into the ecu . It's hard to believe but I have seen this 5 or 6 times .

Default no coolant in the connector...

any ideas what to check for next? Maybe replace it with another new temp sensor

temp gauge is normal. where is the lower one? Diagram?

Do you have VAG? What temp is the gauge indicating . if you have a VAG then go into the measureing blocks and look for the coolant temp . should be in the first few channels . The car should be running at around 88*C . I would watch this value as the car comes to operating temp. It is possible the car is running too hot and setting this code .

The switch in the lower hose is for the cooling fan .
