debating on selling
the gas milage and space with 2 car seats, but as far as ride quality is concerned it really is something special, I also like the looks all around, and the 2.7t is always nice. I have no issues with it as that is not the reason I'm debating, I also just did my torque converter so its a tank now , But still scared for the tranny as I have a history with the a8
What do you guys think? Sell to explore other options?
I had a 2000 a8 it's a 5hp24 tranny I think and the f clutch was defective up until 2002(meaning you lost the reverse) I wasn't a drum like it is on the a6/allroad, so I made a mistake of not buying a 2003 transmission the first time , and when it broke again my wife got sick of the repairs so I bought the cheapest tranny and replaced it and sold it right away, but i would buy another one if it was 2002-2003, a whole different animal than the allroad
On the Allroad, press the accelerator, wait, hear the grumble of the V6, then wait for it to build up boost, then feel the car move.
I don't know if the software coding is different between them, but there's virtually no lag in the A6. Step in the accelerator, and the car moves like crazy. On the Allroad it's a hit and miss. Darn it's a heavy porker for the stock 2.7TT. Need more boost.

There is about a half a second difference in 1/4 mi times between the 4.2 A6 and the 2.7T A6 according to the magazines.
The biggest difference is the instantaneous low end torque of the V8. It makes a large difference when driving in the city.
The 2.7T is much better for mods, as you can't do anything with the 4.2. But modding a tiptronic 2.7 (which has 5HP19) is a recipe for tranny rebuild.
My 4.2 is plenty fast for me. It pulled a 14.9 sec 1/4 mi, and is a perfect size. The A8 is too large, and the pre-2004 is looking dated and square.
