Default Different Suspension Problem

I've had my allroad for a month. Started out yesterday morning and the yellow warning light for the suspension stayed on. The car was also in the lowest level, which it never is, always the second. I tried to raise the suspension by pushing the "up" button, put it in manual mode and tried to raise the suspension. Nothing happened. Stop and start the car again and nothing changed. Drove to work in position 1. At lunch, I started the car and it was in level 2. Went down to level 1 as I drove as I was driving. Today, I started and stayed in level 2, but couldn't change it and the yellow suspension light has remained on. I took it into the dealer, had a mechanic looked at it and he "Yes, there's something wrong with the suspension."
Anyone else have this problem? It doesn't sound like the same problem outlined a few posts back.

Default I had a similar problem

I had almost the identical problem, except I couldn't get mine to move out of level 1. I took it to the dealer, and they plugged in their diagnostic computer, which reported that the suspension had lost its calibration. Apparently, the suspension is not self-calibrating (shame on Audi); if it ever loses track of what height it's at, it needs to be recalibrated by the dealer before it will work.

I looked over the tech's shoulder while he was going through the troubleshooting documents; they literally have to measure the height of the suspension and program it into the car. They recalibrated mine, and the problem hasn't returned (yet). They said if I have the same problem again, they'll replace the controller.

They said that one way the car can lose calibration is if the car is put on a lift (or the wheels otherwise leave the ground) without being put in "jack mode". My car had not been off the ground.

My car sometimes changes levels after being parked for awhile. I can park it at night on 2 and in the morning it can be on 1. This seems more likely to happen if the temperature dropped during the night. Do all allroads do this?

Also, automatic mode doesn't behave the way it's described in the manual. If the car is set on 3, it will lower the car to 2 and 1 when it goes faster, and usually back up to 2 when it slows down, but not back up to 3. Is this normal?

Personally, I'm not very happy with the allroad suspension; it has way too much "sway".

Default Mine returns up from level 1 to level 2 but not level 3. I thought that was normal.

As to your other question, I have never noticed the car lowering its position overnight.

Default Re: Different Suspension Problem

It is the same problem, have the dealer replace the both the suspension level controller as well as the headlight controller. My allroad had exactly the same problem and that is how it was fixed, and been working without a hiccup since.

Had the same problem about a month ago with less than 200 miles on the car. It was solved by a complete replacement of the contoller unit. But, it's been fine since..

I (thankfully) haven't had this problem. There is a page in the owner's manual, though, that discusses something similar. It tells you to make sure you don't park with car with a low overhead clearance situation, as it may result in damage. I took that to mean the car can change position while parked.
