Default Does your allroad A/C cool adequately?

This is the first summer with my '02 allroad and I find that the A/C is having a real hard time keeping up with the heat and humidity here on long island. Today it's about 95 degrees with high humidity.

I previously drove an A8 for 3.5 years and the A/C seemed much more powerful in that car.

Do I need to bring the car into the dealer to check out the A/C or do others find that A/C capacity is borderline in the really hot, humid weather?

Default Yes and no.

It seems to be fine if the car has been parked in shade or in my garage. It actually gets too cold.

It has a hard time keeping up when the car has been parked out in the sun for several hours. The interior gets rather hot and the AC can't catch up. I have the sable/platinum interior so I think it is heat built up in the interior. It does take a while for it to cool down. I bought the Audi windshield screen and it makes a huge difference since the dash doesn't heat up.

We've had several 100+ days in a row and the AC works fine - it just takes some time to get the car cooled down once it gets really hot inside.

I live in North Carolina and it has been exceptionally hot and humid here. The A/C is not overpowering, but it is keeping up. I have experienced a lot worse in automobile A/C.

It cools down nicely but there's a freon-type smell

Thanks for your replies. Think I'll be calling the dealer today to set up an appointment.

I have the same problem here in Houston. It only cools well during the winter ;-)

I drove to Dallas last week with the temperature and humidity both in the nineties. I finally had to turn on recirculate to get the temperature down to the mid seventies inside. This is all at 70+ mph. During rush hour, it cannot keep up.

Same problem with the S4.
