Door switch doesn't work when door is opened

Some weeks ago I noticed the rear passenger foot-well light wasn't coming on when that door was open. Figured I'd replace the bulb...some day. Still haven't changed the bulb, but today I see when that door is open the dash info doesn't show the door open icon. All other doors trigger the icon. I concluded there's a problem with the door switch and searched the archives. Didn't find a simple explanation of how it works. Could some one kindly help?

the handle latch that you pull inside to open the door..

contains the switch.

have same problem, only it's with front passenger door. same thing, doesn't trigger open-door icon.

however, when said door is open, all interior lights pulse on-off. makes me laugh.

so Paulroad, would you think this is the same switch (in that door of course)?
