Default This just replaces the Onstar box with the OEM BT box. No 'conversion'...

Onstar will go away and then you will have BT features in the car with built-in mic (for your phone). Nothing to do with Onstar service or features.

I love my bluetooth conversion, and the integration can't be beat.

Default What about the Parrot??

Does the Parrot work as well? The tech at Audi recommended it to me as OnStar is dead to us now.

Default Do all of the existing OnStar buttons function as before? What VAG settings need updating? Ease of

install and time required?

Default the onstar buttons will become useless, but

you'll save $50 by not having to procure a microphone + $$$ for mic installation.

I installed the module myself -- it required removing the glovebox, pulling back the carpet to access the OnStar module and swapping pins from one harness to another (fairly simple with a pin extractor). The BT box can be mounted exactly where the OnStar module was.

Antenna-wise, keep in mind that the purpose of the Bluetooth module is to allow your phone to act as a speakerphone within your car, so it doesn't require any connections to the mast or GPS antenna.

If you buy the box from Lee Hicks, he offers a very clear PDF on how to install it, plus all necessary VAG coding.
