Headlight assembly same as regular A6 ?
Hi all. Hit 2nd Deer for the year, already. Drivers side headlight unit cover busted, both lights work, but need to get a new unit. Looking at many used ones, I was wondering if regular A6 units will work in my Allroad (2001 that is, with Xenons) ? Many more available if I can widen my search. any knowledge ? anyone ? all input appreciated.

A narrow body, pre-facelift A6 light will fit (2.7T, 2.8, 3.0) but it is a different light. Here's the difference:
allroad headlight (grey housing, bigger projector, self leveling)
A6 headlight (chrome housing, smaller projector, might not have self leveling)

Putting on Arnott's doesn't disable leveling. The air suspension still needs the level sensors. The difference is the allroad headlamps have an extra leveling motor (and wire contact) which adjusts for leveling the lights for the different ride heights.
