Headlight Washers
Had our first cold snowy weather. Went to wash the headlights and nothing happened. Had this happen last year a few times also. Has anyone found anything to prevent the washers from freezing up? The book suggests using an antifreeze type chemical, but I am concerned about damage to the bumper.

Is this the washer fluid freezing or the popup mec?
If its the fluid use a premixed fluid (Blue or Orange) I havent had a problem with it hurting the painte. If its the popup, You can lift them and spray some WD-40 or Ski binding silicone to keep them free.

I wouldn't use WD40 or Silicon; try low-temp white litheum grease,
WD-40 could be a problem with painted surfaces & plastic; silicone is typically not good below 40 F.
For the fluid, use a wintertime concentration of your favorite. I prefer the 20-10 brand.

Re: I usually use the better washer fluid. The blue stuff freezes too
easily. We spend most of our winter below freezing. The washers freeze up after the car is washed until there is at least some warm sun shinning on them. Last winter it seemed anytime I really needed them they were frozen.

Just remembered that I have painted bumpers not he flat gray, ye I could see were that might stain. but I was thinking that if you lifted the spray cover and lubed the shaft that would help. And yes, when the front of the car is iced they wont pop up.
