hi,guys
I am a sales consultant from one of big Audi dealers in china. At the moment, I faced one question: BMW X5 3.0 and Benz ML320 are the competitors of Audi Allroad Quattro2.7T??
Some peopled do not think BMW X5 and Benz ML are not allroad's competitors. In addition, they provide some reasons for this. They said allroad quattro was not SUV, what do you think about it?? do you think only volvo XC70 is the competior of Allroad Quattro?

BMW and MB are not SUV's either. Both are big station wagons designed for the US market. Allroad beats them in offroad capability but is really a more road than dirt as well. The allroad crosses so many product lines it's hard to say what the true competion is.

I agree it's not an SUV
It's true competition is the volvo, but if your just looking for a sports wagon, then it competes against the BMW 5 series as well.
If your looking for a people hauler, snow blazer then you would probably include the X5 and the MB product line against the allroad..
The allroad is in a class to itself, doens't make sense to compare as the other poster stated "It crosses so many product lines"..
I had an SUV, now I have my allroad. Although you might get into issues if someone is buying it to tow something, the X5 and MB might have better towing capacity who knows..
Can you get us aluminum mirror covers?

The allroad is not a true SUV. I've had SUV's before they were SUV's. 1977 Jeep Wagoneer with 360 cid, 3" lift kit-real towing and real offroading in rocks, sand, snow etc. Then had 1990 Toyota 4 runner, lots of clearance, no power, still towed and hit the jeep trails. Needed more power so I bought the ML 320 the first year out, great for towing and out in the desert and snow, but too expensive for rugged offroading. Got tired of the ML in the shop once a month for little crap, finally key kept dying. So this year I traded in the ML for the allroad. I've towed a trailer with 3 ATV's out into the desert (Razor Road). Miss the ground clearance of 9-10", almost got stuck. However, towing with the allroad is like not having anything at all, hauls *** to 80-90 mph without a whimper, even up the Cajon Pass. Will use my brothers Suburban for towing more ATV's out to the desert, though. Thus the allroad is great for Mammoth etc, but not true offroading like a true SUV. Have driven the BMW sport wagon, no contest. Driven a Hertz rental XC, again no contest. Sorry for the long windedness

Those two were in the hunt before we bought the ar, but...
the MB's interior screams Chrysler (read: cheap plastic bits), and the BMW is a dog as a 3.0L - with no rear seat thigh support and absolutely no cargo room.
The beauty of the ar is that it gives you all the off road utlity of an SUV with the road going manors fo a sedan - and the luxury appointments not found in almost any SUV - let alone sedans.
I see the ar as the logical alternative to those who want some off road function, but prefer a more "drivers" drive.
