How to pull the engine...
I did a quick search and didn't really see anything. Does anyone know of a "how to" thread to remove an allroad engine. Or does the repair manual show how it's done.

The Bentley shows how to remove/install certain components but I doubt there is a complete
procedure for the entire engine, there might some Audi/VW tools required which are not necessary listed in the Bentley.
Why do you want to pull it anyways? If you don't mind asking. For DP's or IC's?

Don't mind at all...
It started out small and is not a full blown project. My thinking so far:
New turbos - decided on the Buehn K03/16
RS4 IC's
Samco
Coated manifolds
While I'm in there might as well do:
RS4 clutch, undecided if I should go lite alum. flywheel
New TB
Piggies
Snub mt.
Possibly other knick-knacks, budget/wife permitting ; )
I don't have some of the parts yet, no hurry, it's still cold outside. ETA = spring '06

Its easier to drop the engine....
I have had this conversation with a number of tech's as this is what I have noticed at dealers and shops.
They all told me the same thing get it on a lift and drop it out. Lifting it it an extremely tight job, (not to mention hood removal.) Puting it in from on top also is very hard...its just to tight a fit.

Search the S4 forum...
several people have posted a high level write up of the things you need to do. Specifics like bumper removal can be gathered from the AR timing belt tech. That should be enough for you to work your way through it, but it's NOT a step by step. If that's what you require, find some help.

It would be awsome if i had a lift...
but, I don't nor do I know anyone that has one or anyone at a shop that has one. From the S4 forum, they pulled from the front. Remove bumper, radiator, support etc... and pull up a few inches then pull forward. More work than dropping but for a DIY'er that's all I have.
