Improving tip life?
I use the tip frequently for downshifting to save the brakes. I've been thinking though, will this hurt torque converter life? I've STA and couldn't find anything. I've got an 03 2.7T and already had the TC replaced at 52k, fortunately covered by CPO (I'm at 63k now).
Also, do any of you have any tips (sorry!) on improving TC & tranny life?

Get a manual tranny?
All kidding aside, most have said to check all of the seals of the tranny, shafts, etc. Make sure there is nothing leaking.
There are valves and such that can be upgraded, but usually only when something goes wrong. The is a Level 10 (brand) mod, but its costly and generally only used for by those that increase their power substantially (K04, tracking, etc.)

Good question. I've wondered the same thing, I also work the TIP pretty hard
and I'm almost sure it wont improve it's life span....
Obvisouly the Tip's "lifetime fluid" is not "lifetime fluid", and it would probably help to replace it every 60k miles....

You will certainly shorten the service of the trans by engine braking with it...
Moto makes the point that brake pads are far cheaper. I shift the TIP constantly but I don't use the thing to slow down, I use it to match torque for the next maneuver. Drive it like you want but be aware the trans in this car is not bulletproof by any stretch.
