Default itacud.........

the brake pads I was looking at for the stock brakes were porterfield r4. Check with the S4 guys though 'cause it's the same brake. Pads for the stock brakes are expensive and by the time you go through a few sets you could have had stoptechs.........

Default I was looking to buy R4S's (lower temp compound), but I believe either one needs HP-2 calipers...

Thanks very much for the investigation! =)

It looks like Audi dropped the better HP-2 calipers from the 2003 alroad 2.7t. (The S4, S6, ar4.2, etc, all still get HP-2's.)

The new 2-pad calipers (FRNG-60?) don't seem to have pads aftermarket pads available. I'll see if I can get around to calling Porterfield to ask them in person, but web browsing so far leads me to believe I'm screwed. =)

At $350 a set, these porterfields aren't cheap... but they're less than 2G for a new break system, and would fit under 16" wheels - if available.

Default 2002's have different calipers than 2003's???

Are you saying the older calipers are stronger?

Considering the StopTech's or Big Reds are around 2k, at $395 a set, it doesn't take for the $ to add up!

Default Just saying the new calipers take different pads, which I'm having trouble finding...

I don't really need new calipers (for better brake feel), but I need new pads (for less brake fade).

I'd like better brake feel... but that's another story. =)

Default Soft pedel to.

I have had my allroads for a month and right from the start the brakes feel as if there is air in the line(like a two stage feel) I had it check at its first service. Nothing found still feels the same. The brakes work fine. But the feel is not as sharp as a friends S6.
