Default Keep getting flashed

Sorry, not the good kind of flashing. I am a fairly new owner of an 03 allroad. I believe I have self adjusting xenon headlights and I get flashed everyday from oncoming drivers and people pulling over when I am following them. Can they be adjusted with the VAGCOM tool? What would I expect a shop to charge to do this type of service if it can be adjusted?
thanks
Scott

Default do you ever see the lights "adjust" when you first turn them on? Mine go

up and down as if to set themselves when turned on (hehe) and it's pretty apparent if parked against a garage door or a wall. You can actually detect movement when going up or down steep inclines like a driveway too. I wouldn't even want to fetch a guess as to the cost of repairing these things

Default You can self adjust using the screws on top of the headlight.

Park facing a wall or garage door, and line them up. It could be that you have one out of alignment. If there's one that's higher, dial it down to the other and see if you continue to get flashed.

The screws may be phillips head, and they may be torx - I cannot currently remember.

Default They adjust with a philips head screw driver. Open the hood and look just behing the lights.

You will see a screw mechanism, with a white plastic hex and Phillips head. There is a another in the corner, partially recessed and hidden. These are the headlight adjustments. Use these to move the hotspots down. You can also do side to side, if necessary. Ours have a horizon in them unlike sealed beams. FInd a parking lot with a wall, that is level. Pull up to wall and mark where your bumper is, now back up about 100 ft. Move the DS side so it's more or less straight ahead, slightly right is OK left, is not. Level beam to just under you bumper mark on wall. Move PS beam to slightly above DS beam also more or less straight ahead. Once again slightly right is OK left is not. After you get the hang of it, take the screw driver, along and adjust the lights to taste, after you see what they are like on the road. Be careful not to bring them too high or too left, or you'll be blinding people again. When they are adjusted properly, you'll see into the next state, with getting flashed.

Thanks for the posts guys. My headlights do adjust up and down when I turn them on so I was not sure they had a screw type of adjustment. With all the electronics on this car I just assumed they would have to be programmed with the VAGCOM.

I do flash back and people really don't like that. Those headlights are bright.

Default The code for our headlights needs to be 00030 I bet that it's set at 00020

Don't manually adjust them until you ckeck for proper coding. Find someone close (state/city) to you with a vag-com or VAD to check this and hopefully reset it.
