Default Keys uncoding

Not sure if thats the way to call it but heres the problem. I had my AR key coded for
1/ Security central locking
2/ Automatic door lock & unlock
3/ Indicators confirmation flashings upon locking & unlocking doors.

Was told by the dealer that I could only have 3 things at once so I chose the above. Is this true?

Anyway I've been back to the dealer 3 times already (in 2 months) bcoz it keeps losing the auto door lock/unlock code & has to be re-coded. Everything else is fine.

Anyone have experience of this. I've had to book the car in for a thorough diagnostic check as the service dept can't see whats wrong.

Default Re: Keys uncoding

This problem w/'03's is all over this board

My ar auto lock unlock comes and goes for god knows what reason.

It has been on for a few days, last time it was on for a month and off for 3 weeks.

It is a pain and dumb.

Default related issue?

i have noticed that if i unlock the allroad with the remote but do nor immediately open the doors it will relock? this has happened a few times at work where i stopped in the lot to talk to someone, unlocked the car, took a minute or two and by the time i get to the car it is locked.
just thought this a bit odd.
anyone else notice this?

Default that is a normal thing

My allroad and previous A4 both did this. presumably it is to secure your car in case you forget to re-lock and walk away with that person you are talking to.

Default Question on keys...When I picked up my AR last week, I only realized when I got home that the key

(the rubber keypads) were used, and I mean I would have to be pressing the lock, unlock keys every minute of every day for the next 3 months to duplicate the wear on this key. Under further examination (maginifier), there are also alot of nail marks, alot. Are the Audi AR keys programed, meaning could they just switch out the key for another key and reprogram it? My salesman says no, each key is 'cut' for that specific car. I can't believe that. This guy has made the purchase process extremely tiresome, and way too much work. There's always something else with this kid, and on top of it all, he wants me to give him top grades on the Audi survey which I haven't received yet. Do you think I'm out of line to want a brand new key for this new AR? The second key set is totally unblemished.

Default The keys are cut for the car and not interchangable.

The "use" marks on the key are likly from *use* as you suspect. It's likly that the service or sales people moved the car around on the lot and / or demo it to make the wear marks. Asking for a fresh key is not that big of a thing but it will look like that in a couple of months anyway. Those surveys are extremely important to the dealership as are the service surveys.

Default So you're suggesting I drop the "used" key protest? I was

dissapointed not only in the sales process, but my car was not prepped to my liking. Overall, I was not impressed with this dealership, or the salesman's attitude, or his sales prowess (and I thought this was a SERVICE BUSINESS, silly me). I've read a few posts about a video. Is a video included with the AR manual, warranty/service materials? I did not receive one. I struck a pretty good deal on my AR and I didn't twist this guys arm to do this deal. Maybe a lesser payday is just pissing him off, and I'm paying for it. My heart is telling me that Audi should know of my dissatisfaction. OTOH, I do not want repercussions from this dealership as I was going to use their service department (any you can think of?).

Your thoughts?

Default I'm not suggesting you drop anything... In fact

What I meant was that it should be no big deal for the dealership to get you a fresh key made.

If you are dissatisfied with how you were treated during the sales process you should talk with management at dealership... leave the sales guy out of that talk. Management should try to resolve any issues you have by offering some dealership comps like a detail or loaner car or maybe an accessory to smooth it over. But think about the experience, take some notes, make sure you're articulate and too the point.

Don't use the "if you don't give me "x" I'll squeal to Audi" tactic... Tell them how your expectations were set by Audi, the reputation of the dealership and other owners you have talked to. Give them an opportunity to live up to your expectations. First impressions are hard to shake but a thoughtful effort by the dealer should suffice. After that has played out see how you feel and give honest feedback to Audi.

If the feedback to Audi is still negative consider another dealer for your service. Tell us what area you are in and I'm certain the board will recommend someone.
