Leaky engine gaskets
Blauparts sells a kit which contains:
2 Front Cam Sprocket Camshaft Seals (Improved 'Viton' seal material)
2 Cam Reference Sensor Seals (Improved 'Viton' seal material)
2 Rear Camshaft End Cap Seals
2 Perimeter Neoprene Valve Cover Gaskets
2 Center Neoprene Valve Cover Gaskets
2 Improved Tensioner Cam Chain Gaskets
2 Improved Camshaft Valley Seals
New! Tube Silicone Gasket Compound
New! Step-by-Step Installation Instructions
My question is:
Has anyone done this before? Was it easy or difficult? What would be the unusual challenges of doing this? How long did it take? And: Does this kit cover all the usual suspects?
Next on the TODO list is the timing belt, and I see some of the seals are repeated in that kit. Perhaps it is better to do them both at the same time.
I understand that this is an interference engine, so timing needs to be done right, but then again, every time one works on a car, it needs to be done right. I have not done a TB job on an Audi, but as long as I am aware of the risks and the gotcha's, I should be able to do it. Blauparts rents the special tools, but I am wondering if there is something missing?
The Allroad's t-belt job is a big job, resealing all the upper end gaskets compounds that considerably. This is NOT the job to learn how to work on your own car on.
