Default Milltek Is In!!!

Hey Guys,

I gotta tell, other than the H-Sports...this is an outstanding MOD! The car is soo much god damn smoother its unreal!! The Turbo's have virtually no lag...It's quick off the stop....What the hell was Audi thinking with that stock Exhuast???

The mellow growl is nice as well! It's not cheap, but I think well worth it....It feels quite a bit quicker and the mileage with improve mileage....

I'll post pics in a bit! E-mail if anyone is on the fence about this mod and I'll help you cross into the other side! If you're in NJ, then I'll hook you up with my installer!

Peace

Hi - Have you fitted a complete system or just the rear sections? Please post the pics or email me a rear shot of the car.
Thanks

Default Question re: sound/noise/volume

If wife didn't know you changed exhaust and she got in the passenger seat for a routine outing would she immediately comment on the change in tone/volume?

Would any non-enthusiast have a clue?

If you were going on a 3,000 mile cross country road trip would you prefer to listen to the Milltek or the stock (performance aside for a moment.)

I'm trying to gauge noise levels of exhaust. I had a mean system on my Corrado, but it was downright loud. Wifey is very anti aftermarket exhaust now. Since allroad is the family truckster for weekend trips etc. I don't want an exhaust that is even slightly obnoxious to passengers/bystanders/etc.

Comments?

Default I don't think a loud exhaust exists for our car. When I installed the APR catback, the first thing

my wife commented was "You just spent $1000 on this and I can't even hear it. Don't they make it any louder?"

Default Different Computer aka TTiTTie

I'll post them in the AM, too dark to take pics right now! RMcQ, in terms of noise, you'll have no problem...The turbos really keep the noise down on these things...not quite sure why and what the physics are surrounding it!

It's just a tad bit louder than stock, but it has a deep growl! But you'll love the performance increases....I think if people say that there is a 15 to 20 HP increase with a Milltek, I absolutely believe it!!

Smooooth throttle response and virtually no turbo lag! Fitment was easy...My tech put the system on front to back, loosely tightened...Aligned and adjusted, then marked the exhaust, took it off..put on the putty and then tightened! Great fit...easy install!

1.5 hours of labor becuase we took our time...

Default my comments are for milltek downpipes/cat back together, drone below 2500 rpms, burble fest whenever

you let off the gas(sounds like backfiring to me), definitely louder(especially people following behind car),stock is much nicer for long trip sound wise, in a couple of weeks i will know if i lost any hp going back to somewhat stock exhaust setup when i go to the dragstrip(don't think i lost 10 hp)

Default This would not be acceptable for my allroad. Are the other systems on the market quieter?

RobYSo seems to think that the APR is too quiet.

Does the APR drone at any RPM? Does it burble on downshift?

Default My APR does not drone at all. It is slightly deeper at low revs and high load. You get the burble

when you change the dp. My S4 was fine with the catback until I put in 3" Autospeed downpipes. Holy burble and mini backpressure pops! Sounds pretty cool though.

Default ex-PzKW Kommandant and i have had this discussion thru email, but i think the major sound baffle in

our exhaust could be the stock main ceramic cats. i have pre-cats gutted on stock downpipes, stock resonator, and stock muffler completely bypassed internally and my allroad is much quieter then with the milltek stuff(no drone, burble). people have also removed stock resonator and haven't reported much increase in sound iirc so that leaves the stock main cats which are changed to metal cats in milltek downpipes. cat back milltek could be the same as mtm,apr in that it changes the tone at idle but that is about it.
