Mud Flaps

I know, "splash guards". Are they self installable, or should the dealer handle this one?

I did it myself, about a 4-5 hour job.

It tales time to align them. You need to take off the back wheels in order to install the guards.

My dealer said that they would install for about $100. I think the $100 is worth it.

I did mine also, as an exercise in getting to know the car better...

I took all four wheels off, and got the whole thing done in a couple of hours. The instructions (all pictorial) are clear enough to make the process work, and there are only a couple of difficult steps (fitting a slot in the guards over the sheet metal was the worst).

I recall the need for a weird tool or two, so make sure you've got tools needed before starting (the instructions have a listing).

Whether paying for them to be put on (and an independent garage could do it easily) or doing it yourself, they're worth it. They dress the car nicely and are very functional, especially in winter. HPH

e-mail me if you need help. sllanera@kpmg.com, some hints, all the holes are there, need not drill any new ones, the clips need to grab the fenders (this is a must of proper alignment) and dip the flaps in hot water before installation, it makes install easier.
