New "stuff" for my allroad
Yesterday I had stongard installed (both the bra kit and the headlight shield), and I'm very satisfied. I highly recommend the installer I used (in NW Oregon). Had to wait several weeks as he was being flown around the country by Stongard to train dealers in its installation.
I was surprised at how thick the light covers are - while the paint cover is 9 mils thick, the light cover is 68 mils thick, as you can see in this photo.

I also had my V1 hardwired. The shop did a great job - no extra wires show. They ran into one problem - because of the headliner airbag they couldn't run the wires through the A-pillar as they normally would. Instead they placed it between the windshield and the A-pillar, but it's not visable at all.
I had the concealed display attached to the center of the instrument display -

From the dirver's viewpoint, it displays just below the bottom of the information display without obscuring any of the info.

All in all, a good 2K present for my baby.

We had a V1 hardwired into our allroad too. However the Audi tech did run the wire underneath the A pillar airbag. The V1 is situated just below the rear view mirror. That's where I've always liked it because it can "see" farther and scanning the V1 is as easy as glancing at the rear view mirror. No wire is visible anywhere and the V1 transformer is in the fuse box with its own switched circuit. This tech, Mike, is really good. The guy has actually completely disassembled a TT and put it back together. Incredible. I want to buy another Audi just so I can have it hardwired.
