Offset question...

Offset question...
Looking at buying a set of OE S4 rims. They come with a 45mm offset. First off is that going to require too large a spacer for safety/performance purposes and secondly any idea on size lugs I would need? Even better a link to the type of H&R spacers would be awesome.

you would need a 20MM spacer and new lug bolts...
I'm not a fan of that thick a spacer.
I have wheels that use a 10MM and they ride great, I have wheels with a 20MM spacer and I find that they accentuate every vibration.
I spoke to my audi guru/tech (tyrol sport in queens, ny) and he always suggests no spacer on his client's cars. The added vibes that you feel are also added geometric forces that the components are being hit with. Especially the main wheel/rotor/bearing assemblies.
But there are opinions on both sides of this.

Thanks Paul. Spoke to the guys at Achtung and they suggested going with the DRA adapters and then bolting the wheels using my existing studs to those - but you do have a point. 25mm spacers seem like a lot.

Where's the lever and the fulcrum??
By the definition of offset, the geometery of the wheels have to "match". As long as the spacers are hubcentric there is no lever; at least no different then what the factory wheel would have.
In fact, the lever would be the same with a non-hubcentric spacer; you just get other forces at play with those.
