Overheating
It has recently become critical. First, the hoses burst or a long distance trip. The upstate genius mechanic said he thought it had a blown head gasket. When I had it towed back to my trusted local mechanic, he said that almost never happens to the 2003 allroad and after checking the car, he strongly disagreed. He spent a lot of time and money on possible issues, changing out the thermostat, the electric auxiliary fan, controller for fan and all the hoses. He said the excessive heat had fried the viscous clutch (only one year old) on the regular fan so he changed that. Both water pumps were done in the last two years. He says the radiator and the heater core seem good and he is testing temperature differentials, but kind of stuck. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
