Quick, How important is it to set the leveling system to jack mode

Default Quick, How important is it to set the leveling system to jack mode

before jacking up the car? Do most tire shops know to do this? My wife just took the car to get the snow tires mounted and knows nothing about this

Default not sure how important, I just do it... I would call the place and tell them before they put it on

the lift, hold both buttons for 5 seconds.

What does it do? Too late she is already home with the snows on the car.

Default Not a big deal. I've had mine jacked up many times and not once locked in jack mode.

One time I had to manually raise the car from level 1 to 2 cause it was lock there. All the other times, it just worked like normal.

Default As far as I've been able to tell...

...the only thing jack mode does is to turn off the self-leveling feature that causes allroads to "talk to themselves" after you park them somewhere or (when they're parked and there's pressure in the tank) to do little adjustments when you put stuff in them, like in the back.

Jack mode certainly does not lock up the suspension -- the wheels dangle the same way with or without it.

I use it, and I try hard to remember to get garages to use it, but sometimes I forget. The worst that ever happened was that the self-leveling got confused, and this I fixed by running it up (to 4) and down a couple of times. HPH

Default seems to be a safety feature so the car won't try to level itself while on a jack......

I've remembered and I've forgotten to use it....no issues.

Default I've done it without setting a few times...

with no problems. It's nice to use at home because it seems to sort of lock the suspension into a 'no travel' mode. Thus when jacking the car from a frame point, you don't have to raise the jack as far because you're not taking up all the suspension sag that you'd have on a regular car, before the wheels leave the ground.

Default Occasionaly it will lose it's reference for calibration. I always use jack mode

on customers cars but on mine, it's a hit or miss thing. My biggist problem is when it come down off the lift the bags are completly flat and you have to wait for them to reinflate. Thats when I don't put it in jack mode!
