Removing inside panel
thanks
John
i removed the big bolt that the back seat secures to when upright, removed the tie-down clip in the corner, removed the small piece that holds the privacy tarp when extended, the screw where the privacy tarp rolls up when not in use, the silver threshold plate across the back and then remove the back part from under the rubber seal at the back hatch door. then the back end pops out of some clips then pulls back from the area by the back seat securing bolt. unplugged the amp thats mounted to the woofer and take out the three bolts hold in the woofer/amp and it pulls right out. i was able to get at the gas door locking unit, found the pin to it laying under the woofer box. reinstalled it and its good to go. while i had the woofer box out i removed the dinky 5" woofer (1 ohm btw) and lined the inside of the box with speaker foam. i also used a 2" hole saw and cut another port (right above the word "Bose") so that it was directed to the inside of the car. there is a factory port in the box but it is low in the wheel well, under the floor, pointed to the back and then covered with sub floor padding.
I'm glad to get the gas door lock fixed and i'm real happy with the woofer now. i can add more bass boost without it sounding like rattling sheet metal.
