Shutter in Drivetrain when turning
Could all of you with a six speed AR tell me if you ever feel any vibration when turning sharp and accelarating or decelarating. After my transmission was rebuilt dealer is telling me this is normal, but the car did not do it before nor has any other quatro I ever owned or drove. Need back-up to take to dealer as they have no other car around to test against. Thanks

but I've felt a shimmy/vibration in my S4 and A4 in the past (a slow hard u turn). The suspension is flexing to acomodate quattro (some reason like that). I think that the ar doesn't exhibit this in most cases as the tires have more flex to acomodate these forces.

Yes, I also experience this "shudder" while turning and accelerating at the same time. I had a similar experience with my '96 A6 avant (auto) but no such vibration in our '98 A4tq or my '87 5000tq (both manuals). I took the A6 to several dealers and mechanics for an explanation, and all said it was normal. I may be wrong, but I have attributed the vibration to the limited slip and electronic differential at work. I also have experienced a similar vibration in a '73 Bronco that I owned many years ago. It was quite a brute with oversized tires and a lift, and you could almost hear/feel the individual pawls and gears while turning and accelerating, which was most definately the archaic limited slip diff at work.

Not in my 6-speed ar but did have a problem with my '98 A4 Avant when it was new
When my '98 A4 Avant was brand new, I had a bad vibration when I accelerated from a dead stop with the steering wheel turned. (As in making a U-turn) It turned out to be loose driveshaft bolts. Apparently they were torqued incorrectly at the factory. After they were tightened, I never had the vibration again. (Actually, I never had any other problems through 150,000 miles. Hope the ar holds up as well)
