Default So how would you react to this

I called my dealer the one I purchased the AR from before selling it. I know the sales guy pretty well and he knows that I got an S6. he thought I got it from Riverside Audi in NJ. he said that since the car came from Riveside his dealership would not service it as Riverside is notorious for selling buy back cars. he also suggested that I would get the same response from other NE dealers. So now that he knows the car did not come from Riverside he is going back to see if he can arrange a loaner for me since "they only loan vehicles to people who purchased vehicles from them", which I did, just not this one. One more thing, he said they only have one tech that is certified to work on S model cars so scheduling is very difficult.
Whole things seems just to weird for me. Why do the Audi dealers seem to be such a problem to deal with.

Default Haha, and a coworker is swearing off BMW because of service issues.

He's thinking RS4 when his lease is up, so I told him not to expect much better in the way of service.

If you want good service, I think it has to be a Lexus (uggh!)

Default Loaners come out of the dealer's pocket, unless your car is kept overnight.

Then they get $25 a day to cover your loaner. So nicer loaners or rentals cost the dealer money. They usually are careful to make sure they take care of their own loyal customers first, and then if there are crumbs left over, pass thos along to people who didn't buy there. The fact you bought one car from there, but your most recent purchase did not come from them, probably puts them on the fence. You have past loyalty in your favour, but you recently were not loyal.

Buy-back cars (often cars purchased by AoA just before lemon status as a gesture of good will) can be perfect except in the eyes of their first owner, or they could be nightmares. The problem would be if the dealer on has one qualified S tech, they don't want to get him or her tied up in a potential nightmare for which AoA will not fully compensate them for trying to fix. If they already have scheduling problems, they are just trying to make sure that this car doesn't bottleneck the rest of the S car servicing business. Totally understandable.

It's a matter of limited resources (loaners and techs) and your dealer wanting to protect their other customers. You'll just have to convince them you really are one of the good guys/gals.

Default Re: As to loyalty

I did approach my dealer with the idea of finding me an s6 and then taking my AR for someone I found who wanted it. They weren't keen on searching for an S6 for and another dealer had one so I was disloyal a little. thanks for the insight

Default reads like he just wants to be difficult since.....

you didn't buy this car from them and didn't trade the ar so they miss out on multiple transactions....on the sales dept side.

it's interesting that the sales person would say they only have one s car tech.....my dealer has zero s car techs but the service mgr says all the techs are certified and the sales mgr says there is "no such thing" as a model specific tech. they also sold 6 rs6s without being certified for this model....their only "audi master tech" has since gone to another shop.

call the service dept and ask them about this.....bet you get another story.

loaner cars always seem to be a someones discretion....again i imagine the service dept will have a different policy line....like only for warranty service or only on tuesdays....

while you may "know" the sales guy often times the sales and service people really hate each other.....and buy back or not a car under warranty or built by audi will be serviced at any dealership.....the real question is do you WANT them working on it?

cheers

Default Talk to the service department, no the sales guy.....

My dealer only gives Audi loaners to those who bought from them, and only while still in warranty. On my old A6, once warranty was up, they gave me an Enterprise rental worth $25 per day. To April's point, that's all they get reimbursed for. If I wanted smething more that a Pontiac Grand Am or similar car, I could pay the difference.

And I can't see how ANY dealer can refuse warranty on a buy-back. Audi takes the stance that these cars are OK and only bought them back as a goodwill gesture.

Default Oh good, another chance to trash Riverside...they suck.

But in all fairness, he should chill about blackballing cars from Riverside. They come with a CPO certification, so all repairs would be covered by Audi. Besides, he could always find out why it was a buyback and refuse to repair anything related to the buyback.

Just seems like he's immediately trying not to work with you and using the Riverside bit as an excuse. Odd the way they are. Always covering their own ***.

By the way, was your car tinted when you bought it or did you have it done. I'm looking for a good NY area "tinter".

Default Mohegan? There has been a lot of bad rap on them on the NJ/NY Forum

Multiple visits and a service manager telling people. "take your car elsewhere..we don't want your business."
