suction pump question
So I'm a bit confused at this point (having searched the b5s4 and c5 forums as well).
Would a MT AR be equipped w/ the suction pump or the so called spider hose? Sounds like the AT has it, but saw mention that the MT 2.7t doesn't...true? Tracking down a faint burning oil smell, seems that the suction pump might be a culprit, especially in cold weather. If this car does indeed have it, could anyone provide location/pics on this (saw the 2.8 writeup)?

I can't say, other than I have a brand new one unused that I can sell cheap if you need it!
My '01 allroad did not have this device in the expected location, so I never installed it for the preventative measure I intended to take.

no, this pump is a little piece of plastic that connects into breather hose.
unsure what it's actually doing, what models are affected by it. see tech article below, details the part, but instructions are for 2.8 motor.

Yeah we have it it's in the back. They can get clogged, but usually the diagphram
in it goes bad, and so it doesn't suck out the crankcase pressure. This is the cause of 90 percent of cam seal leaks. Using synthetic oil keeps the whole engine nice and clean including the "crack pipe". There are slight differences in the location between 02< and 03>

last time i was in there, didn't notice any leaking around valve cover. maybe it just happened.
had also washed engine bay thousand miles before that, so was pretty clean. TB change is near, so if its the cam seals, can do those w/ this work.
any word on where this piece is? roughly same area as in the 2.8 writeup? i was under the impression from some that it was sitting under the y-pipe.
