Does anyone know where the outside temperature sensor is? My thermometer typically registers a realistic temp, but every once in a while starts plummeting downward by 20 or 30 degrees. While it's probably the electronics, I curious as to the sensor and/or sending unit locale. Any ideas?

On my A4 and A6
the sensor appears to live just in front of the radiator. I believe if you check the manual there's a section on the accuracy of the temp. gauge and how it's affected by whether the car is moving or not, wind, ambient temp., road temp., etc. etc. etc. It's better than a WAG (wild-*** guess) though.
