thoughts on RNS-E install

it seems to me that installing an RNS-E would be fairly harmless in creating problems with my CPO warranty. am i overlooking something, or has anyone had any problems here?

no CPO problems at all..

you seem very paranoid about CPO status...how long have you had these feelings?

No problems here. I would imagine the only problem you could have is if.......

you do something during the install that would cause a problem else where.

No issues before or after Nav+ install w/ multiple CPO occurrances ...

I truly believe most techs' run from having to work on a NAV+ system. My dealer is the unusual opposite. Audi of Mission Viejo offers NAV+ installs on pre owned/CPO pre owned cars. I referred a colleague to the Master tech there for BT install options on his 2002 A8. The car was wrecked by his son shortly after and fubar part of the wiring harness in the accident. Ben integrated the BT into the existing NAV+ harness (MOST system) seamlessly while the cars interior was gutted.

It worked out really well for him because his wife wanted to sell the A8 for a newer model w/ Fact BT installed.

Bigger issue is finding a compatible c5 A6 unit -- supply has dried up quite a bit

dvda.. no warranty can be voided by a mod...

a specific claim/repair could be.

IE: If you chip your car and the turbos blow, then the dealer can refuse this claim, if they can base the refusal on the direct effect of the mod itself.

If you have an OEM Radio Head (NAV) and it did not come with your car. Then the wires and install of the item would not be covered by CPO. If the Bose Amp Blew, they may have grounds not to cover this, but it would be highly doubtfull because they would not even know you put in the RSNE. Likewise, if you put in an aftermarket sway bar, they are not going to refuse a claim on your power seat motor as the two are not related.
